To celebrate Hawthorn’s triumph in Saturday afternoon’s AFL Grand Final against Geelong, Australia Post is releasing a 2008 AFL Premiership Team Souvenir Stamp Sheet of the victorious team.

From midday on Monday 29 September 2008, Hawks fans can purchase their very own piece of premiership history at selected Australia Post outlets around Australia.

Hawthorn’s defeat of Geelong on Saturday delivered them their first Premiership since 1991, and this is the first time that the Hawks have been featured on a Premierships Souvenir Stamp Sheet.

“The AFL Grand Final is one of Australia’s great sporting events and this 2008 AFL Premiership Souvenir Stamp Sheet provides the public with access to a unique piece of football memorabilia very soon after the event” said Noel Leahy, Australia Post, Group Manager Philatelic.

Each souvenir stamp sheet will feature celebratory post-match images on the backgrounds of the stamp sheets, along with the team name, team colours, team logo, final score, AFL logo and the title of “AFL Premiers 2008”.

The tabs of the stamps will feature an image of the 2008 AFL premiership cup accompanied by the words “Hawthorn 2008”. Each Souvenir Stamp Sheet will feature ten standard 55 cent stamps and retail for $15.95 at selected Australia Post outlets and via mail order on 1800 331 794. The Souvenir Stamp Sheet program is a continuation of Australia Post’s ongoing support of the AFL and the 16 clubs.
